Same Pattern~Different Looks

Customer and new knitter, Jennifer, created these two scarves using the same pattern, the very easy, yet elegant Feather & Fan pattern. The one on the left was knit with Noro Iro and the one on the right with Manos Silk Multi. These show that with a simple pattern and different yarn, you can create a beautiful knit scarf for yourself or as a gift. Jennifer gets many compliments on both scarves when she wears them. The Manos is available at the Dancing Ewe Yarns & Teas in several multi and solid colors.

Customer Laurie is working on the Knit Chickens from Blue Sky Alpacas. She is using Blue Sky Alpacas Dyed Organic Cotton. She plans to make three for her kitchen, one green, one red and one multi in three different sizes. Can't wait to see them finished.

Susie used all of Cathy's unfinished socks for instruction on Tuesday morning. She taught on the Kitchener Stitch which is a great way to finish the toes of socks. Now most of them are done! Thank you, Ladies.

NEW BOOK & NEW PROJECT

Susie has been busy trying a pattern from the new book available at Dancing Ewe Yarns and Teas. This is the Swirl Tablecloth from Jane Gottelier's "knitting and tea". What a wonderful new book to have in the shop. The "tablecloth" is knitted with Rowan Glace on size 8 needles. It measures 24 inches.
There are many patterns and recipes in this book to try; even a Tea Cozy pattern.

Here is a closeup of the lace knitting. She will be adding beads to each point for an extra touch.
Susie found a treasure at the local thrift shop years ago that works perfectly for blocking lace. She found a quilted, padded table protector and drew several sizes of circles on it. Now she can block to whatever size she needs.
Put on a large piece of Styrofoam, it makes a wonderful blocking tool.
Keeping an eye open for ideas and treasures like this makes blocking so much easier.

Janelle has written and knitted the Summer Tweed Tank. The pattern will be available on Ravelry or at the shop soon. She used four skeins of Rowan Summer Tweed for a size small in the color Butterball.
The yarn is 70% silk and 30% cotton.

What wonderful detail on the neck and bottom of the sweater. A light, airy pattern for those warm summer evenings.
She has also finished another Selbu Modern beret with Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift.
Dancing Ewe carries a wide variety of Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift and is available in our store or on our internet store.

Here is Cathy F.'s collection of unfinished socks! Many will be shop samples once the toe is finished. Let's encourage Cathy to finish all these socks so we will have samples of our wonderful yarn! It's Knit off, Purl on. Purl off, Knit on. Just keep going!

NEW ACCESSORIES FOR SPRING

Janelle has created some lovely tote bags, project pouches and a needle case. All are for sale at Dancing Ewe Yarns & Teas. Come in and see her new creations. The tote bags have great pockets inside for separating your knitting and crocheting equipment. Below are some of the choices for the project pouches.
This is Janelle's personal project pouch. She states that it is large enough to carry two projects.
The needle case rolled up would make a wonderful gift. It holds several pairs of needles or crochet hooks.
It's never too early to start planning for Mother's Day and what great gifts for the knitter or crocheter.
