One Yarn Three Ways

Three knitters at the Tuesday morning knitting group, meeting at Dancing Ewe Yarns & Teas, are all using the same yarn. ShibuiKnits sock yarn is wonderful to work with. The color is called "Grace" but we have dubbed it the Easter Socks.

Linda R. is using the Double Moss stitch from Sensational Knitted Socks book.
Anna S. is doing a basic stockinette stitch sock. This is Anna's first sock. It's turning out very zigzag!

And, Kathy S. is using the Faceted Rib pattern from Little Box of Socks.
Two skeins are required for a pair of socks. ShibuiKnits sock yarn is 100% superwash merino and has 191 yards per skein. A size 2 needle is recommended. Dancing Ewe Yarns is carrying twelve colors of this yarn and more to come.

We are also carrying ShibuiKnits Merino Kid which is a lovely blend of 55% kid mohair and 45% merino. The richness of the colors is stunning!

RAINBOWS & BASKETS

Instructor Terry N. has finished knitting this beautiful and colorful shawl with our new KauniEffectyarn from Estonia. She used one skein of the Rainbow and a # 6 needle. The pattern is from Stahlman's Shawls & Scarves and is called Marietta. It really shows off the feather and fan pattern on this shawl. Dancing Ewe Yarns carries KauniEffectyarn in four variegated colors and two solids. What a lovely drape the shawl has.
Customer Debbie L. is getting ready for Easter with her felted Easter baskets.
Filled with eggs, what child can resist these on Easter morning! The felted eggs on the outside add a touch of whimsy. Debbie used Cascade 220 which is an excellent yarn to felt. Very cute, Debbie.

Janelle's Mulberry O-Wool Sweater

Janelle started another sweater using Vermont Fiber Co.'s O-Wool Classic.
The pattern is from Interweave Knits magazine Spring '09 issue and is called Diminishing Rib Cardigan.
She has been busy swatching and making changes to the pattern to fit her desires and needs.

Janelle's swatches told her much about the yarn. The swatch above is with the collar rib as written with an experimental buttonhole.

The second smaller swatch is the ribbing she is using. It is Janelle's alternate cast on.

These are the swatches side by side. She also practiced making some different button holes and decided on no buttonholes, she is going with clasps.
Also, Janelle said for a lighter weight summer sweater, O-Wool Legacy DK would be a great choice.
Vermont Fiber Co. O-Wool Classic, Legacy DK, and Balance are all on sale 20% off at the Dancing Ewe Yarns for the month of March.
