Susie's Sock Monkeys

Susie has found another cute pattern. She really loves this Sock Monkey pattern. She says this is the best one she has seen. It is available through Lulu.com or check Ravelry.

Yarn: Cascade Quatro
Needle Size: #4
Changes in Pattern: Susie knitted the green and orange one in the round eliminating some seaming.

Come to the Dancing Ewe Yarns on Tuesday mornings between 10:30am and 12:30pm if you would like to make one of these cute sock monkeys for yourself or your favorite little one! Susie will be glad to assist you with these little darlings.

SOME OLD FAVORITES REDISCOVERED

This week I'd like to share some projects made with yarns that I have "rediscovered" at the Dancing Ewe Yarns. These are yarns we have carried for quite some time, and I am finding new uses for them. Hope you enjoy them.

The fingerless gloves below are made with Colinette Jitterbug Color #85-Jay colorway. This yarn is 100% Merino Wool, hand-dyed, 4-ply fingering weight and comes from Wales. It has a wonderful feel and works great for the Mitt Envy fingerless gloves. The yarn knits up stretchy and is very comfortable on my hands. Sock yarn is so pretty that I am always looking for new ways to use it. The skein has approximately 291 meters (320 yards) and there are several color choices. The yarn is machine wash on gentle cycle.

My husband said my hands looked like a mini tractor had run over them! This is a very easy cable pattern to work and would be great for a beginning cable knitter. Plus, there is enough yarn on this skein to knit two pairs of mitts. I did modify the pattern by making the cuff longer~25 rows rather than the 15 called for in the pattern.

Dream In Color Classy is a very squishy 100% Superfine Australian Merino Superwash worsted weight yarn. It is spun and hand-dyed in the USA. The yarn is variegated and the colors are muted for subtle changes. The color below is #VM450 and called Pansy Golightly. Reminds me of the hippy days! I am using this yarn to make a pair of short socks for my mother to wear around the house. With 250 yards, it is plenty for many one skein projects. I'm thinking of doing another tea cozy with this yarn from the pattern in the One Skein Wonders book. This tea cozy is beautiful and functional. It really does keep your tea warm as it is double layered. And, being superwash I won't worry about spilling tea on it.

Dream in Color also makes a sock yarn we sell at Dancing Ewe Yarns. It is called Smooshy and that is a great way to describe both of these yarns.

HIGHLIGHTING NEW YARNS

We have new yarns to check out at Dancing Ewe Yarns! We are so excited about them.
The scarf below was knit by Janelle using the new KauniEffectgarn from Estonia. One ball contains all these colors. This one is Rainbow. There are five variegated colors and two solids. This sport weight yarn is sold by the gram. Each skein has approximately 140-160 grams and 430 yards.

More color selections of KauniEffectgarn below.

These skeins are the KauniEffectgarn Rainbow colorway.
We are very happy to receive the new Malabrigo Silky Merino. This yarn is a fine DK and is 51% Silk 49% Merino Wool. There are 150 yards on each hank. With several solids and multis, they would be great for any project.
And look, new colors of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn! The richness of the new colors is wonderful, reminding me of Spring and Autumn. Each hank contains 200 yards and two will make a pair of socks. Or, go to the link in Ravelry and check out other projects.
Linking to all the yarns will send you to Ravelry where there are lots and lots of ideas for all the yarns. Happy Knitting & Crocheting from all of us at Dancing Ewe Yarns.

HATS & BAGS

Hats are always a welcome gift. We have several around the Dancing Ewe Yarns and many are free patterns created by Janelle for the shop. The center beret above is knitted by Janelle with Cascade Lana D'Oro and Noro Silk Garden. What a great combination.
The hat on the left is knitted by Cathy F. and is from the book "Luxury Yarn One-Skein Wonders". Cathy used Blue Sky Alpaca Melange yarn.
The right hat is Janelle's creation called Rudensk. It is named after the orphanage in Belarus that we knit and shipped many items to for the winter. $1 of the sale of this hat goes to the orphanage fund. She used Sublime Aran yarn to knit this one. I love the colors!

Berets are very popular and here is one also created by Janelle that is so lovely and feminine. Knitted with Blue Sky Alpaca Sport, the color is Petal Pink.
And, below is a stocking hat knitted in Fair Isle by Janelle with Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift. What a great project to try Fair Isle.
Customer Earlene K. is a beginning knitter. This is her first project! It is the Susie's Purse pattern and is available at the shop. She used Cascade 220 in Chocolate Heather, Walnut Heather, and Summer Sky Heather. What a great color combination! Cascade 220 is a wonderful felting yarn as you can see.

Terry's American Girl

Terry has been knitting an outfit for her American Girl doll known as Felicity.
Her coat and hat are made of Naturally Tussock yarn. I love the tweed look of her coat with the Victorian puffy sleeves. The pompoms on the hat are an added flair.
The dress is made from Plymouth Encore Worsted. The colors match so well. She looks ready for any cold day.

CATS & DOGS~And A Little More

Customer Joan C2 brought in her "Knittin' Kitten Mittens" to share with us the other day. They are from Ravelry's Cat Mittens pattern by Jorid Linvik.

Joan used Colinette Jitterbug and a black fingering weight yarn from her stash. Aren't they fun! My only regret is I didn't get a picture of the thumb. It has a fish skeleton knitted into it. How appropriate for those kitties!

Linda R. is knitting with Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn. She is making the "Faceted Rib Socks" from Box of Socks. How colorful!
Cathy's Girasole Blanket is coming along nicely. Don't you just love the color. It is Cascade Pastaza #6003 Poppy. Can't wait to see it finished. This pattern is available on Ravelry and is a great pattern.
This week I found out that Girasole is Italian for sunflower. When you see it knitted in yellow it really does look like a knitted sunflower. How fun.

And, here is Bonnie. She came to visit the shop the other day and spent time with all of us. She is a Cairn Terrier and I hear is a great mouser. Go Bonnie!
