The Dancing Ewe has received a shipment of Noro Silk Garden. Some of the colorways are new to us. Many choices for Irene's Modular Scarf pattern available at the store (see previous post for pics). And, we've been moving yarn around getting ready for the new Kauni yarn.
Janelle is knitting a hat with the Jamieson's Spindrift that is pictured above. She will have a shop pattern for it soon!

A LITTLE BIT OF RED

Silk Sleeves (aka Arm Warmers) are lovely in Kidsilk Haze #627 Blood with a little touch of gold from Kidsilk Night. Kidsilk Haze comes in many different colors and Susie made these with one ball each. She said she barely had enough red yarn so you may want to shorten them a bit. Knitted on size 9 needle, they work up quickly. The pattern is from the book "One Skein~30 Quick Projects to Knit and Crochet". An elegant evening out or for a prom dress maybe?

Sweater Week at the Dancing Ewe

Several ladies at the Dancing Ewe are in the process of making sweaters.
Cathy's is:
Ladies February Sweater based on Elizabeth Zimmerman's February Baby Sweater in Knitter's Almanac
Yarn: Dream In Colors Classy
Color: Night Watch

She will look great in this beautiful variegated blue.
Terry is knitting a sweater for her husband.
Pattern: Dale of Norway 2004 Olympic Commemorative Sweater
The wool came from Terry's own sheep, Sunset and Snowflake. It is Handspun Navajo Churro Undercoat. The brown and white are natural. She dyed the blue.
What a labor of love, Terry!

Irene has started a top down sweater she says will be for her or her niece.
Pattern: Elizabeth Bennett Cardigan from Fitted Knits.
Yarn: Rowan Cashcotton DK and Aslan Invernal Trends.

What lovely colors!

Janelle finished her dad's birthday sweater! Doesn't it look great. He looks handsome in it too.
Pattern: Saddle Shoulder from Elizabeth Zimmerman.

And, last but not least, Cathy's Cozy Shawl is knitted with Kauni yarn. We will be carrying this Estonian yarn in a few weeks.

The yarn is Noro Silk Garden

Cathy knitted this vest for her husband, Tom. He's a lucky man! The yarn is three different colors of Rowan Felted Tweed and is found in the book, Simply Shetland.

HAPPY* NEW* YEAR

Now that Christmas is over and the new year has begun, what is on your mind to knit? Projects for yourself or starting next Christmas knitting now? I'm doing birthday gifts at the moment. Here are some pictures of knitting by Terry, one of our teachers. The mittens are from the book "Folk Mittens". The ones on the left are Lapland Mittens made with worsted weight yarn. On the right, Anatolian Mittens from Turkey made with Encore DK weight. What a great project for these long, cold winter days and nights. How about a toy for a favorite child in your life? Terry knit Otto the Owl from the book shown below.
She also knit our sheep's outfit to keep her warm! Terry told me that after her sheep were sheared this past spring, we had a cold snap. She went down to the local thrift shop and bought a sweater for her old ewe to keep her warm until the weather warmed up. I thought that was a brilliant idea!
And, lastly a new scarf on display at the shop. This one is from the new one skein book, "101 Luxury Yarn One-Skein Wonders". Made with Sublime, it will take more than one skein though. But, it's soft and reversible. Also, it's a very easy cable pattern.
Close up of the scarf and remember all books are 20% off thru January!
