SOME OLD FAVORITES REDISCOVERED

This week I'd like to share some projects made with yarns that I have "rediscovered" at the Dancing Ewe Yarns. These are yarns we have carried for quite some time, and I am finding new uses for them. Hope you enjoy them.

The fingerless gloves below are made with Colinette Jitterbug Color #85-Jay colorway. This yarn is 100% Merino Wool, hand-dyed, 4-ply fingering weight and comes from Wales. It has a wonderful feel and works great for the Mitt Envy fingerless gloves. The yarn knits up stretchy and is very comfortable on my hands. Sock yarn is so pretty that I am always looking for new ways to use it. The skein has approximately 291 meters (320 yards) and there are several color choices. The yarn is machine wash on gentle cycle.

My husband said my hands looked like a mini tractor had run over them! This is a very easy cable pattern to work and would be great for a beginning cable knitter. Plus, there is enough yarn on this skein to knit two pairs of mitts. I did modify the pattern by making the cuff longer~25 rows rather than the 15 called for in the pattern.

Dream In Color Classy is a very squishy 100% Superfine Australian Merino Superwash worsted weight yarn. It is spun and hand-dyed in the USA. The yarn is variegated and the colors are muted for subtle changes. The color below is #VM450 and called Pansy Golightly. Reminds me of the hippy days! I am using this yarn to make a pair of short socks for my mother to wear around the house. With 250 yards, it is plenty for many one skein projects. I'm thinking of doing another tea cozy with this yarn from the pattern in the One Skein Wonders book. This tea cozy is beautiful and functional. It really does keep your tea warm as it is double layered. And, being superwash I won't worry about spilling tea on it.

Dream in Color also makes a sock yarn we sell at Dancing Ewe Yarns. It is called Smooshy and that is a great way to describe both of these yarns.
Be sure to check out Alana's new post on Never Not Knitting. She has designed and knitted the cutest little girl sweater!
