From Janelle's Hands

Janelle is knitting this sweater for her father's birthday in January. Her dad picked out the yarn, which is Cascade 220 Provence, and the pattern. It is EZ's pattern "Shirt Yoke Pattern" from her Knitting Workshop book. She left the extra yarn on the sleeves in case she needed to make them longer. We'll keep you posted of the progress.

Here's a new shop pattern from Janelle called Susie's Reading Mitts, inspired by Susie's need to keep her hands warm while reading in bed. She used Cascade "Cloud 9" which is 50% wool and 50% angora. Very soft! It takes two balls and we have several color choices.
Don't you love the detail!

RED STRIPES~AND MORE

This week Cathy F. made a cute little hat from Cabin Fever called The Gaugeless Hat. This one is made from Nashua Julia in red and tan. The pattern instructions are for any weight of yarn and comes in two lengths. Great stash buster.

Have you seen this shawl hanging on the shop wall? It's made by Susie and is a beautiful shade of red. She used Lorna's Laces Helen's Lace and said that you have enough yarn to make several.

The red striped Christmas Sampler stocking was made by Kathy S. from the book KNIT CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS! There are 19 patterns for stockings and ornaments. The Rustic Log stocking would look great in a log cabin home.

Here's an easy scarf made with Blue Sky Alpaca Suri Merino (but any yarn will work fine). It is a Stephanie Pearl-McPhee pattern called One Row Handspun Scarf~a free pattern from her blog, yarnharlot.ca or link to Ravelry:

Several of the stockings in the store came from CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS: 18 Holiday Treasures to Knit. We found out it is no longer in print but Interweave Knits is offering some of the patterns for sale individually. The following link is to the pattern store where you may purchase them online.

New Yarns and Teas~And Some Old Favorites

Dancing Ewe has some new yarns and here are two from Dream In Colors.
The one on the left is Classy~a Superwash Worsted yarn that was used for Yarn Harlot's Tulip Sweater. Lots of colors!

The yarn below is our new Dream in Colors Smooshy superwash sock yarn. What luscious colors. And it truly feels "smooshy".
We have had Pagewood Farms for some time now but it is another beautiful superwash sock yarn. Denali is 100% Merino and St. Elias is Bluefaced Leicester wool.

Plymouth Baby Alpaca Grande is an old favorite and we have two new gray colors, two new multis and purple. The Nomad hat and scarf combo below is made of this yarn.
Do stop in and see customer, Tori's Christmas stockings on display. We will have a pattern available soon.
Christmas Teas to warm you on those cold winter nights that are just around the corner.

And finally, another old favorite yarn, Nashua Julia shown here made into a tam by Janelle using Christmas colors. This yarn is 50% wool, 25% alpaca and 25% kid mohair in a worsted weight.

Hats~Scarves~Mittens

Janelle is sporting another of her adaptations~a baby hat made to fit an adult head. She used Malabrigio Shocking Pink. Malabrigio is so soft. A wonderful yarn for hats or scarves.
Here is a scarf made by Cathy F. It is from the designer Mac & Me~ pattern #150~Ruffled Scarf. She used Blue Sky Alpaca sport weight. How luscious will that be next to your neck!

And some mittens knitted by Kathy S. This is my first attempt at mittens. My hands are small and I have a hard time finding mittens to fit so I'm so pleased that I have mastered mittens and they fit! The lighter blue ones are made with O-Wool. If you haven't tried this yarn, it is worth considering. It is soft and knits up wonderfully.

These are made with yarn from Kathy's stash. The pattern is the Basic Mitten pattern free from Ravelry. If you are not familiar with Ravelry, it is an online knitting site for knitters and crocheters. By signing up you will have access to hundreds of free patterns as well as sources for patterns you can purchase. The Dancing Ewe has a group called "The Dancing Ewes" where you can go for advise, see what others are knitting and crocheting, or just chat. Go to the link above and it will take you to the site.
P.S.~We just got in a new shipment of teas. One you will love is Holiday Tea in sachets, loose and tagalongs sample tins.
