Starting Our Winter Woolies

SOCKS AND SWEATERS
That's what is on our minds and needles this time of year. Cathy has started a pair of socks with an exciting pattern. It's from "Sensational Knitted Socks" page 73. The pattern is called Welt Fantastic. Doesn't it show off this Lorna's Laces sock yarn well! The yarn is called VERA.
The colors are so vivid.

Janelle is always busy adapting patterns she likes. And, she's really good at changing patterns to fit her needs. This sweater is actually her adaptation of a Dale of Norway baby yoked cardigan. You may have seen the sample baby cardigan displayed in the shop.
She is using Naturally yarn she got on our great sale but it could easily be made with any heavy worsted yarn such as Cascade Eco Wool or Lamb's Pride Worsted.
A closeup of the yoke shows off the great pattern in the sweater.

CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS IN THE WORKS

WIP's from Kathy
I've been working on some Christmas stockings from the book "Christmas Stockings". I really enjoy this time of year and try to start projects early.
This one is in process. It's an Estonian fair isle pattern from Nancy Bush. This is my first attempt at real Fair Isle knitting. I'm enjoying the challenge. I bought the yarn recommended on vacation last week but you could easily use Lamb's Pride Nature Spun and add some red to make it look more traditional Christmas colors.

This stocking is called "Snowy Night Gansey Stocking". I used Encore Worsted and it took about 1 1/4 skeins. Again, this would look great in any Christmas color.
I think I'll add some ribbon and jingle bells to make it more festive.
